Those are my homies but I am also a fan of their talent and as one of the few ppl that's seen threm grow from the start I am so glad to see them take it to the next level!! Sneaker Pimps, the world's largest sneaker show is making it's way to DC's biggest nightclub venue, DC Star, on Saturday July 18th! There will be performances by some of DC's most talented up and coming artist, including Kingpen Slim as well as Wale with go-go band UCB and headlined by VA's own The Clipse! If you missed Wale's coming home show last night at the 9:30 Club, all I can say is you missed a historic day in DC hip hop as you can see from the pic above. Wale killed a sold out club with a diverse crowd singing every word to every  song! It was amazing! UCB of course killed it with him. 

Anyway here are 2 new videos from Wale, the 1st being for his single, Chillin, featuring Lady GaGa off of his upcoming album, Attention: Deficit. The 2nd video is off his mixtape, Back to the Feature, which drops next week.  This track, Family Affair, is a pretty deep song.  The visuals were provided by director Rik Cordero and he did a great job of bringing it to life. MTV Shows DC some well deserved love!!!

Still on a natural high, soaking in the fact that my president is black and he's my neighbor. I mean the dude lives like 10 minutes away from me. But back to the topic because Washington DC is a lot more than politics, I told yall a few weeks ago that MTV was taping Wale, Tabi Bonney, and UCB for what I thought was a My Block: DC and maybe it will be one but as of now we have MTV2 DC Week. Be sure to tune in and check out the website here. After watching clips of the Godfather of Go-Go Chuck Brown, Super Producer Chucky Thompson, Wale, and Tabi Bonney speak make sure you leave comments on all the clips or whatever and lets show MTV that the city needs this attention!!

Raheem Devaughn and other DMV Artist pay homage to Sean Taylor on "Any Given Sunday"

EZ Street, 93.9 WKYS afternoon drive personality along with Grammy nominated artists Raheem Devaugh, Anwan Glover aka Big G, the HBO’s hit series The Wire and NBC’s Law and Order and founding member of the Backyard Band, Miss Kim, lead female vocalist of Rare Essence, DC rap sensation Wale and Jamil "Face" Johnson have come together to create this lyrical masterpiece of dedication to the late Sean Taylor.

“The idea for doing this song is simple. To honor # 21 Sean and to send a message that to the community that we must never forget that there is still much work to do stop the violence in our community. Sean’s tragic death acts a reminder”, says EZ Street.

R.I.P. Sean Taylor-1 year later

On this very day last year, 11/27/2007, Sean Taylor of the Washington Redskins life was brought to an untimely end! Not only was Sean one of the hardest hitting men to ever play the game of football but he was also a father, a son, and a soon to be married man. A man that took what some would call a negative past as fuel to build a positive future. He was feared by WR's, QB's, RB's, & TE's on the field and loved by millions off the field!! We can only wonder what greatness he would have brought to the sport, the Redskins, and his family's future but lets take a second to take a look at the impact he had on the field while he was here!! My prayers still go out to his family and friends. If you have anymore clips or memories please leave them in the comment section. Remember, tomorrow is not promised so learn to appreciate the ones you love while they're here because you just never know!!

On a side note I have got to say I respect what Wale is doing right now!! Everytime I turn around somebody got some hating shit to say about the dude and the funny thing is it's never about his raps!! To have that many haters only means you are doing the right thing. You mad at him cause you say he's not from D.C. I personally don't know where he's from and Im not saying that to say he's not from the city because I cross paths with him everywhere in the city from go-go's to nightclubs to Commonwealth, etc. I am saying that to say as a man I don't have time to worry about where another man lays his head (pause). Youngin got his foot in the door and commanded the respect of some of the realest in the game from Jay Z, Bun B, Kanye, Pharell, Mark Ronson, Jimmy Iovine, etc.. Thats a strong list of folks to have on your team. I'm not going to say he's totally opened the door for the city yet, but at least he's got the light shining on DC, a city thats been overlooked for years cause of all the hating that happens within.

With that said, stop hating on the dude and focus on getting in the game some way!! If not, at least pass the gatorade because while yall sitting still watching dudes is making moves and we thirsty!! Holla
